Lawson is a fun, friendly neighborhood within Waxhaw. Lots of great amenities are provided in the on-site clubhouses and gym, including access to the pools and fitness equipment. Lawson Community Association building and other provided spaces within the neighborhood are where most residents spend their time. With so many wonderful amenities to enjoy and the community feel here, it's easy to see why. However, that doesn't mean unique offerings within Waxhaw and neighboring towns aren't to be enjoyed. Venture into the city and find some favorite eateries and shops to fill up the rest of your social schedule.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
Bistro D'Antonio is a popular choice for Italian in the area. Lobster ravioli, eggplant Parmigiano, zesty penne, shrimp scampi, and veal scaloppini are just a few menu offerings. They also offer an extensive wine menu with special selections and traditional choices.
Waxhaw Creamery is an adored establishment for cold treats. Choose a specialty sundae, cup or cone, shake, float, or Italian ice. They offer an assortment of ice cream flavors, like cotton candy, creamsicle, black raspberry swirl, and coconut. You can also choose a variety of toppings to complete your dessert.
Things to Do
Twelve Mile Creek Greenway is one of the best hiking areas in Waxhaw. It's favored for its easy terrain, mixture of natural and paved paths, and unique bridge. There is also a playground and sporting fields, giving you even more opportunities for outdoor recreation. Southwest of this location, you'll find the
Carolina Thread Trail. Give this one a try for even more breathtaking views.
Carolina Lakes Golf Club was once intended for residents of the Sun City Carolina Lakes community. Now, they offer a “Player's Club” program where anyone from the area can come to utilize the golf course and other amenities. For example, you can dine at The Tavern on the Lakes, their on-site restaurant. The menu changes with each season, but there is always a provided bar where you can quickly grab a cold drink and sandwich and be on your way if you desire.
Schools
Union County Public Schools is the primary district in the area providing education to students. Students may attend:
