YES!! We all LOVE HOT APPLE CIDER! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 8 cups (64 ounces) of apple cider
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4-6 whole cloves
- 4-6 whole allspice berries
- 1 orange, sliced into rounds
- 1 lemon, sliced into rounds
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- Optional: 1-2 teaspoons of whole star anise for added flavor
- Optional garnish: Cinnamon sticks, apple slices, or orange slices
Instructions:
-
In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, pour the apple cider and place it over medium heat.
-
Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice berries, orange slices, lemon slices, and star anise (if using). These spices and citrus slices will infuse the cider with wonderful flavors.
-
Stir in the brown sugar to sweeten the cider. Start with 1/4 cup and adjust to your desired level of sweetness. You can always add more later if needed.
-
Bring the mixture to a simmer. Once it's simmering, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it gently simmer for about 15-20 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld and the cider to become fragrant.
-
After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat.
-
Use a ladle to serve the hot apple cider into mugs or heatproof glasses. Be sure to strain out the spices and citrus slices as you pour to keep the drink smooth.
-
Optionally, garnish each serving with a cinnamon stick, apple slice, or orange slice for a decorative touch.
-
Serve your hot apple cider immediately while it's still warm. Enjoy!
Feel free to adjust the spices and sweetness to suit your taste. Some people like their cider spicier or sweeter, so you can customize it to your liking. This hot apple cider is perfect for warming up on chilly days or for holiday gatherings.
